Planning Board rejects enforcement of nonconforming sign at Stanton Circle

Planning Board · Meeting of January 21, 2026

BOXFORD — Planning Board takes no action on nonconforming Stanton Circle sign after abutter testimony. The vote was 5-1 to decline enforcement, with Members Angela Steadman and James Barnes arguing the private-property sign falls outside the Board's jurisdiction, while Member Ellen Nestervich cast the sole dissent. In separate action, the Board unanimously approved a preliminary subdivision plan for 105 Depot Road (Holmes applicant, nine buildable lots, single cul-de-sac road) and unanimously recommended two Zoning Board of Appeals special permits: one for a barn structure to store agricultural equipment at 102 Main Street and one for a 937-square-foot basement accessory apartment at 4 Moonpenny.

Two driveway permits were continued to February 18 and March 18, 2026.
