BOXFORD — Board of Health defers septic variance decision, seeks broader town input. The board voted unanimously to continue review of a conceptual septic system design request for a Sagamore Lane property split between Boxford and Middleton, pending consultation with the Select Board. Isaac DeRoe presented two design options, including an alternative that would reduce leach field size by 50 percent, but board members expressed historical reluctance to grant variances for new construction.

In separate action, the board unanimously rejected a Finance Director proposal to reduce the Community Health budget line from five thousand dollars to $1,750, supporting full funding for vaccination and other public health initiatives. The board also discussed treated utility pole regulations, with Jim Ellard and Jim Taggart assigned to research fiberglass alternatives and state policy.
