Assessors grant umbrella exemption for residential solar systems.

Boxford assessors extended a 20-year solar tax exemption to all eligible residential systems. Chairman David F. Benson, Member Diana Headrick, and Member Jeff Linehan unanimously approved the motion, presented by Headrick and seconded by Benson, covering systems under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 45 that do not exceed 125 percent of annual electricity needs.

The Board also approved 11 Fiscal Year 2027 Chapter Land applications and directed Director of Assessment Kristin Hanlon to revise the Name Change Policy and add language to the Town Boundaries Policy addressing accessory dwelling units.
